There are also some pictures taken prior to the storm hitting on Friday, September 12, 2008 at about noon. There were 13 people at the bay to say goodbye to the pier including: Dad, Mom, Matthew, Mary, Jessica, Jonathan, Sebastian, Larissa, John, Josh, Juli, Charles, and myself.

Hurricane Ike - Family - Pre/Post

Hurricane Ike - San Leon - 12 hours before landfall : These are pictures of our pier along with several others adjacent to ours at about noon on Friday, September 12, 2008. Hurricane Ike would hit that evening around midnight. The eye went over Dickinson and so also over San Leon putting the Boliver Peninsula in the worst spot but we still got it bad. There are also some pictures of our trailer on Galveston Bay and some other houses next to it. There is a cliff in front of the lot with about a 5-6 foot drop that you walk down stairs to get to the water. The county has dumped a lot of rocks and boulders to control erosion along the road. Many of the huge boulders as well as one ton pieces of concrete from the road being damaged were picked up and thrown in the yards by the storm surge. Our guess is there was about an 11 foot surge in this area. Amazing.

Birthday Snow :

Houston Snow - Queen of Angels December 10, 2008 : Snow in Houston area on December 10, 2008 - It started falling in the late afternoon and early evening. Most of these pictures are taken between 9:15 pm and 10:30 pm. It was melted in Dickinson by the next morning. This is the second snow fall in the last four years. The coastal counties around Houston had a heavier snow on Christmas Eve 2004 which made for a White Christmas.
